THE ADMIRAL - Chris Gauntlett
Chris Gauntlett, took over Blue Water Divers in 2012. Chris is a licensed Pilot as well as a PADI IDC Staff Instructor and has been teaching SCUBA since the early 1990s.
He is in his early fifties and is married to his wife, Melanie. Together they have two children, Sophie and Amy. He enjoys sitting behind the wheel, watching TikToks (on YouTube) and anything that brings nostalgia. He constantly references 80s and 90s pop culture, often to no reaction. If you have the pleasure of meeting Chris, be prepared to arm yourself with the knowledge of Caddyshack and obscure references to old movie stars.
His jokes are older than the company itself, which has been operating for over 35 years.
CAPTAINS AND CREW
Apart from Chris, we have a great group of Crew to keep the shop moving like a well oiled machine!
TOMMY
Tommy has been at BWD since he was thirteen years old, achieving his Master Scuba Diver before becoming a Divemaster and "Hard Hat" commercial diver. Tommy is the old shoe of the shop and we love him and wouldn't have it any other way.
Tommy is a maverick when it comes to pop culture and surprisingly has mostly good taste in music.
He's super cool.
JUSTIN
Justin joined us in May of 2019, moving to Bermuda from Southern California. He has worn many hats in his life. Justin is a PADI Instructor and Captain-in-training. He was an EMT in Chicago for many years. We call him 'Bolla' (Italian for bubbles) as a result of a perforated eardrum. It may have just been hot air or it could've been a wealth of knowledge. We may never know.
PHOEBE
Phoebe is the resident crazy cat lady of BWD. She joined us in 2023 after working as a PADI Scuba Instructor in Cape Town, South Africa.
Chris believed he was the reigning champion of of the colour 'Safety Orange' until he met Phoebe. She truly takes it to a new extreme.
She wears Chili Pepper shorts when she feels spicy, and Lemon shorts when she feels sour. Phoebe has no other moods.
SKYLA
Skyla is the youngest member of our crew.
She is the child of a ruthless military leader and is an expert Hobby-Horse equestrian. Her daily routine consists of eating a mayonnaise straight from the jar followed by an afternoon hibernation period.
Skyla is currently a PADI Rescue Diver and Divemaster candidate.
